Attorneys fees settled in brutality case

A federal judge has ordered the City of Minneapolis to pay $50,000 in attorneys fees in a case alleging police brutality.

The city agreed to settle a lawsuit filed by burglary suspect Nicolas Kastner, who says he was kicked and electronically shocked by a police officer after he surrendered in a parking ramp in December 2008.

Last week the city agreed to pay Kastner $75,000, plus attorneys fees.

KSTP-TV reports Magistrate Judge Arthur Boyland decided Thursday that $50,000 was a reasonable amount for attorneys fees.
