A House crime panel is looking at domestic abuse proposals on Friday, including a plan to use electronic tracking devices to keep suspected abusers away from their victims.
The bill from Democratic Rep. Paul Gardner of Shoreview would create a pilot project to test the devices on offenders arrested for domestic abuse.
It gets a hearing in the House Crime Victims and Criminal Records Division.
The panel is also considering a proposal to expand the area covered by orders for protection in domestic abuse cases. The bill from Democratic Rep. Debra Hilstrom of Brooklyn Center would add the area around a victim's home.
