Minnesota lawmakers are due to revisit legislation that could help homeowners facing foreclosure.

A Senate committee planned to take up the Homestead-Lender Mediation Act on Tuesday, which aims to help handle conflicts between lenders and homeowners in danger of losing their residence.

The legislation would require lenders to provide an individual on their behalf to negotiate a foreclosure with the homeowner.

The bill passed the Legislature last session but was vetoed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty. This year lawmakers want to work with the governor to form a compromise.
