A snowmobiler was struck and killed by a pickup truck on an icy road in southern Minnesota.
Steele County Sheriff Gary Ringhofer says the 64-year-old man died Thursday afternoon while crossing a road on his snowmobile.
Authorities say the icy conditions complicated rescue efforts. The first ambulance to arrive at the scene skidded off the road. The man was taken by ambulance to the Owatonna Hospital, where he later died.
Steele County sheriff's officials tell the Owatonna People's Press that numerous vehicles skidded off roadways Thursday.
