Rochester police say a man and teenager used a homemade explosive device to blow up an ice-fishing house over the weekend.
Authorities say a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy from Rochester were arrested after the tent-like structure was destroyed early Sunday morning.
Police Capt. Brian Winters said Monday the males were at an underage drinking party when they decided to detonate an explosive about 2:30 a.m. They blew up the structure on Cascade Lake, and the blast woke neighbors.
Officers tracked footprints from the site to the house where the party was going on. Winters says the two suspects confessed after they were identified by their footwear.
He says the pair were booked on tentative charges of arson and damage to property, and released.
