News out of Haiti to Minnesota humanitarian groups is that one of major problems is getting supplies already in Haiti to people who need them.
At a meeting Friday afternoon of Minnesota aid groups, the message was that the main need now is not more people or supplies but money. Phil Hansen, CEO of the Minnesota chapter of the Red Cross says that's the challenge facing his group.
"The Red Cross for example has a federation of societies right next to the airport," Hansen said. "A lot of supplies are there and they're working hard to get them distributed to people who need them the most, but it is indeed a logistical challenge, there's no shortage of people wanting to help and resources to help, it's just a matter of getting that accomplished."
More than one Minnesota aid group said their flights have not gotten clearance to land in Haiti due in part to limited airport facilities and the amount of supplies already on the way.
Other Minnesota aid groups say they are still making plans to try to get their teams into Haiti as early as Monday.
