An Olmsted County judge has ordered a Tennessee man found not guilty of homicide by reason of mental illness to be civilly committed.

Judge Debra Jacobson ruled Friday that Sean Francis Clancy, of Eads, Tenn., is mentally ill and dangerous to the public and in need of commitment at a secure treatment facility.

Two days before that Judge Jodi Williamson found the 42-year-old guilty of killing his father at a Rochester hotel in July 2008, but not guilty by reason of mental illness.

The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports that a court trial was held Dec. 15 with attorneys stipulating to a court verdict based on investigative reports and evidence, and the evaluations of two psychiatrists.
