Police dog bites St. Paul high school student

A teenage student suffered a puncture wound after she was bitten by a police dog at her high school in St. Paul.

Officers responded to a security alarm at Humboldt High School about 2 a.m. Tuesday and spotted someone running inside the building. Officers released the police dog after the person didn't respond to a verbal warning.

Sixteen-year-old Tiana Elliot, who's deaf, told police she fell asleep in the school after missing her bus Monday afternoon.

WCCO radio reports she was treated for a bite wound at a local hospital and released.
