The Anoka-Hennepin School Board is expected to re-approve a plan Monday to close six schools and reconfigure two others in the state's largest school district.

The re-vote became necessary after the district learned its first vote didn't follow proper procedures -- there wasn't the required public notice of some meetings preceding the vote.

Some parents who are opposed to the closures say the second vote is a chance for the board to give the plan a second look.

But district leaders say they expect the same outcome - adding the closures are needed to find $3 million in savings. They are the first closures for the district in 50 years, a reflection of enrollment in Anoka-Hennepin, which is now declining after decades of increasing.
