Animal cruelty charges for Minneapolis woman with 30 dogs

Police have charged a north Minneapolis woman with animal cruelty after an investigation last month.

On October 20, the Minneapolis Police Department and Minneapolis Animal Care and Control served a search warrant of Loretta Mae Roach's house on an animal welfare call, according to a police report.

Investigators say Roach had 30 Shi Tzu dogs in her home with several health conditions including dental disease, eye problems and feces matted in their fur.

According to police, Roach used her body to prevent the dogs from being confiscated and also kicked an officer in the shin.

Roach was charged with obstructing the legal process and animal cruelty on Wednesday, Nov. 4.
