Minnesota Congressman Tim Walz said he'll support the House health care bill that's scheduled for a vote on Saturday.
The 1st District Democrat said he can vote for the bill now because it meets several key requirements. Walz said the measure expands coverage to the uninsured, reduced health care costs, improves Medicare and prevents insurers from denying coverage based on pre-existing conditions.
During a conference call with reporters Friday, Walz said he waited to announce his position so he wouldn't lose any leverage.
"We just thought it would be best to see what the final version is going to look like, what all the changes were going to be made for it, making sure our four concerns were absolutely met, and then come out for it," Walz said.
House Republicans oppose the bill, including all the GOP members from Minnesota.
