Car crashes forces early c-section, baby doing fine

St. Paul police say there's good news involving a pregnant woman who underwent emergency delivery after her vehicle was struck by an SUV.

The baby girl was delivered by Cesarean section Thursday. St. Paul police Sgt. Paul Schnell says the infant was stressed after birth but is expected to be fine.

Twenty-three-year-old mother Danyel Anderson was upgraded from critical to good condition Thursday.

Authorities say Anderson was riding in a car driven by her half brother late Wednesday when the SUV ran a stop sign. The SUV slammed into the car, leaving the eight-month-pregnant Anderson unconscious.

Three other people in the car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver fled and abandoned the SUV nearby. A 30-year-old St. Paul man believed to be the driver has been arrested.
