House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher filed paperwork Thursday to run for governor in 2010 and also launched a web site announcing her campaign.

In her web statement, Kelliher wrote that Minnesota needs a leader who knows it will take more than one person to rebuild our state.

She said her goals include making Minnesota a world economic leader, building a healthier, more productive workforce and providing every child the opportunity for a great education.

Kelliher has served six terms in the Minnesota House, including two and a half years as speaker. She says she has no plans to step down as speaker while running for governor.

"I'm not going to quit the job I've been elected to do, and I have the trust of my membership," she said. "And I look forward to doing that job and being able to work with Minnesotans to win the next job."

Kelliher joins 10 other Democrats who've filed paperwork to start raising money.

Nine Republicans have filed, and the field in both parties is expected to grow.
