Gov. Tim Pawlenty sounds like a candidate at the RNC summer meeting in San Diego. Take your pick of coverage from MPR, the Star Tribune, the Pioneer Press, and many others.

The Minnesota DFL issued a strongly worded response to the governor's speech, ripping him for the state's job losses, cuts in health care and the ongoing budget deficit. Unfortunately for the governor's opponents it also featured a bizarre link to a strange youtube video. Warning if you follow the link...it contains epithets you wouldn't want your mother to hear. But here it is if you must.

DFL party Executive Director Andrew O'Leary said the link came from an outside researcher who had not checked it, and the party did not double-check the link before sending the release to reporters.

Tomorrow is the second anniversary of the 35W bridge collapse. The Star Tribune reports the state is suing the company that regularly inspected the bridge. MPR looks at the technology on the new bridge.

Cash for clunkers is broke after a week. Does that mean it's a success or a failure?

Along similar lines the economy shrunk in the last quarter but less than everyone thought it would, which makes it good news but not great news.

The health care bill is making progress in fits and starts, but the recess may tell the tale.

The much-hyped beer summit is over. I think people from all racial backgrounds can agree that it's not much fun having a beer in a suit and tie in 90 degree weather as dozens of photographers watch from behind the bushes 40 feet away.

So that's progress, I guess.
