Waseca man to attempt skydiving record

A southern Minnesota skydiver will attempt to break the state's skydiving record this weekend.

Cory Hanna will try to complete 100 jumps in a single day on Saturday. The current record is 60 jumps in 24 hours.

Hanna will skydive from sunrise to sunset at the airport in Waseca, about 15 miles west of Owatonna.

Besides trying to break the Minnesota record, Hanna is trying to raise awareness for suicide prevention. Hanna says he hopes his skydiving event will encourage people to talk openly about depression and suicide.

Hanna started skydiving shortly after he lost his ex-wife to suicide.
