Minimal amounts of precipitation last week allowed Minnesota farmers to nearly complete this season's harvest.

The weekly crop report from the Minnesota field office the U.S. Department of Agriculture says the corn crop is 97 percent harvested. That's a bit behind the historical average.

Similarly, the sunflower harvest has reached 95 percent complete, also just trailing the historical average for this time of year.

The report says there were 5½ days suitable for field work last week, and the average temperature was 26.6 degrees. That's more than 3 degrees below average.

Those below freezing temperatures continued to restrict some farmer's ability to till the soil and apply fertilizer.

Statewide topsoil moisture supplies as of Friday, were 1 percent very short, 6 percent short, 77 percent adequate, and 16 percent surplus.
