"Cloud computing" is an increasingly popular way for computer users to access programs without actually having them installed on their computers.
CNet News Editor-in-Chief Dan Farber told Future Tense's Jon Gordon that Internet providers, such as Google, Amazon and most recently ATT, are offering computer applications remotely, or in a "cloud" -- not unlike energy companies supply utilities.
Cloud computing allows computer users to access technology-enabled services without needing the knowledge, expertise, or control over the technology infrastructure that supports them.
