A Minnesota family today will bury a soldier who disappeared nearly 58 years ago, during the Korean War.
The remains of Sgt. Edward O'Brien were found in 1998. DNA helped confirm his identity earlier this year. O'Brien is being laid to rest, with full-military honors, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
His niece, Carol Herring, of South Saint Paul, said the family is relieved there's finally some closure.
"Yeah, we are and we aren't, I guess. Kind of both ways. I guess for all of us it's kind of, we're happy he's home but we're sad, too," Herring said.
O'Brien was a member of the Army's 25th Infantry Division. Chinese troops launched a surprise attack on the division in November of 1950.
