The Miro Quartet performs with incredible power and remarkable sophistication. The quartet brings its passionate way of making music to Stillwater this week as part of the White Pine Festival.

The quartet, named after Spanish artist Joan Miro, was founded in 1995 at the Oberlin Conservatory, and immediately began winning several major chamber music competitions.

Over the past three years the group has been Faculty String Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Texas at Austin.

As amiable as next-door neighbors, members of the internationally reknowned quartet spoke with classical music host Steve Staruch in the Maud Moon Weyerhaeuser studio.

They played a few excerpts from their upcoming performances in Stillwater, including a work called "Tinnitus" by Twin Cities composer Brent Michael Davids.
