The St. Cloud city council will take public comments on plans for a new $36 million across the Mississippi River.
The current Highway 23 bridge in St. Cloud was shut down in March because of safety concerns. The 30,000 vehicles that crossed the bridge each day have been detoured to other Mississipi river crossings in the area.
MnDOT officials say within a few weeks they'll spray a protective coating on the bridge, to keep lead paint from chipping off while the bridge is torn down in August.
Concrete piers for the new bridge will be built in late summer and fall. Construction on the bridge will begin next April.
The bridge is expected to be complete by November of 2009.
