The Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis is making a media splash today, to introduce the Royal Shakespeare Company's stop here on an international tour.
Renowned actor Ian McKellen will perform "King Lear" and "The Seagull" in repertory at the Guthrie. Tickets for those performances are available if you're willing to pay a premium.
MPR's arts commentator and St. Paul Pioneer Press theater critic Dominic Papatola says the high prices the tickets are fetching are largely because the performances will feature a star actor. But it also says a lot about Minnesota as a cultural hot bed.
