Minneapolis author Kate DiCamillo sat down for an interview recently, and came to the studio with a few books in hand.
The only nonfiction book in the bunch was a biography by Judith Thurman called "Isak Dinesen: The Life of a Storyteller."
She also brought "The Sharpshooter Blues" by Lewis Nordan, and she read from a short story by Stephanie Vaughn called "Dog Heaven."
Growing up in a house full of books, DiCamillo said that reading was a big part of her childhood. Her parents read to her and frequently took her to the library.
In an interview with MPR's Cathy Wurzer, DiCamillo talked about the book that made her realize she wanted to be a writer -- "The Accidental Tourist" by Anne Tyler.
