Honeycrisp apple
One of the latest jewels in a dazzling breeding program, the Honeycrisp was developed by Jim Luby and David Bedford, two University researchers who work at the Minnesota Agricultural Experiment Station.

The popular Honeycrisp apple today takes its place on the list of official Minnesota state symbols.

MPR's Tom Crann spoke with University of Minnesota horticulturist Jim Luby about the Honeycrisp. Luby and fellow apple breeder David Bedford introduced the "explosively delicious" apple in 1991.
