Imagine how happy you would be if you won $10 million. Now imagine how unhappy you would be if you lost your leg. Guess what? Your level of happiness probably wouldn't change that much.

It's hard for us to wrap our heads around this idea, but Daniel Gilbert, the author of "Stumbling on Happiness" told Mary Lucia that's it true. He uses the story of conjoined twins to illustrate his idea.
