April 25 is Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Yom HaShoah. It is the Jewish commemoration of the Holocaust, set aside to remember the six million Jews who were killed by the Nazis, and to honor the survivors.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of Minnesota and the Dakotas estimates 100 Holocaust survivors live in Minnesota today, as well as many children of survivors.
Cathy Wurzer talked with Dora Zaidenweber, a Holocaust survivor, and her daughter Rosanne.
Dora Zaidenweber is originally from Radom, a large Polish industrial city. She was forced into the ghetto after the German occupation, and there she married her late husband, Jules. Both were later deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Dora was later transferred to Bergen-Belsen, the same camp where Anne Frank died.
