Italian conductor Roberto Abbado makes his debut on Friday as one of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra's artistic partners, as the orchestra kicks off a three-week Mozart Festival.
Abbado and the SPCO celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth with performances of Mozart's last three symphonies, examples of his sacred music and a semi-staged version of the opera, "Cosi fan tutte."
In a conversation with Minnesota Public Radio's Karl Gehrke, Abbado discusses the greatness of Mozart and the influence of opera on all of his music.
