
Meet Clay Masters
Clay Masters is a senior politics reporter for MPR News.
Clay, a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a degree in Journalism, is a seasoned Senior Politics Reporter covering state and national politics and policy.
Before joining MPR News, Clay spent 12 years at Iowa Public Radio, first as a statehouse correspondent and eventually becoming the lead political reporter and host of IPR's “Morning Edition.” He began his career in public broadcasting at Nebraska Public Media, where he held various roles, including on-air radio hosting, agriculture and environmental reporting, and producing television documentaries.
Clay's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for the podcast “Caucus Land.” In his personal time, Clay enjoys running, cycling and spending time with his family. As a native Nebraskan, he will gladly wax nostalgic about fly-fishing and canoeing in the Nebraska sandhills.
