Mild temperatures expected Sunday night, with highs ramping up into the 80s and 90s on Monday. A stormy setup late Monday will lead to widespread rainfall on Tuesday.

Our lows for Sunday evening will drop into the low to mid-60s.

The air quality alert remains in effect until 6 p.m. on Monday, with smoky skies expected to persist throughout the day.

Monday will bring the peak of the current summer-like heat wave, with temperatures reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. However, northwestern Minnesota can expect cooler conditions due to cloud cover and the arrival of a cold front.

Ahead of Monday’s cold front, winds will be coming from the south at 10-20 mph, with gusts reaching around 30 mph.

Showers and thunderstorms will develop along the cold front, starting in northwestern Minnesota. As they move eastward, the storms are expected to remain below severe thresholds.

The highest risk for severe weather is in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota, where the Storm Prediction Center has issued a slight risk. The primary threats include large hail and damaging winds.

A cooldown is expected behind the cold front on Tuesday, along with a chance for beneficial, widespread rainfall. Temperatures will return to around our seasonal average, with highs in the mid-70s.
