Tornadoes confirmed in Brainerd Lakes region. Family of bystander killed during police chase sues Minneapolis

The National Weather Service has confirmed several tornadoes touched down in the Brainerd Lakes region during severe thunderstorms Wednesday, but meteorologists are still working to figure out the rating and exact path of each twister. The rural area and forested landscape are complicating their assessment.

And the family of a bystander killed during a high speed police chase in 2021 is suing the city of Minneapolis. Officer Brian Cummings was pursuing another vehicle traveling nearly 100 mph when Cummings crashed into a car driven by Leneal Frazier. The former officer pleaded guilty to a charge of vehicular homicide and was sentenced to nine months in the Hennepin County workhouse.
