During his busy first term, Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison represented Minnesotans by enforcing COVID-19 restrictions, prosecuting former police officers and helping negotiate settlements with Johnson & Johnson and the three largest opioid distributors.
His office also expanded its work protecting tenants rights and prosecuting wage theft. When Ellison announced last fall that he would run for a second term, he said a goal is to help Minnesotan’s “afford their lives.”
MPR News politics editor Mike Mulcahy talked with Keith Ellison about what it means to be “the people’s lawyer” and what he wants to do if reelected. Plus a conversation with former Minneapolis City Council member Don Samuels who this week announced his primary challenge against DFL U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar.
