Friday and Saturday will be brighter and warmer. Temperatures will be above normal. The next round of moisture moves in with rain and snow possible Sunday into Monday.

Friday will be our warmest day in weeks as sunshine becomes more widespread. Highs will be well into the 50s across southern and western Minnesota. Those readings are above normal by at least a few degrees.

Saturday will bring even slightly warmer conditions with more sunshine. Temperatures will be colder near Lake Superior.

Winds will increase Saturday ahead of the next storm system. By Saturday afternoon, winds will blow at 10-25 mph from the southeast with higher gusts. The winds persist into Sunday.

Enjoy that sun and warmth because the next storm system will spread rain and snow into the state Sunday into Monday. Showers will develop Saturday evening in southwestern Minnesota and spread north and northeast into Sunday.

Models still hint at potential slushy snowfall Sunday and Monday, especially for central and northern Minnesota.

Importantly, this system will bring a half inch to as much as an inch of precipitation, mainly across central and southern Minnesota.

Partial solar eclipse Monday

Unfortunately, that system is likely to obscure the view of the partial solar eclipse in Minnesota early Monday afternoon. The latest forecast shows lots of clouds for the north-central United States and also Texas.
