As Frederick Melo reported for the St. Paul Pioneer Press this week, public officials know they have a problem with empty downtown office space. Vacancies left by the move to remote work could cause commercial property values to tumble and shift more of the property tax burden onto homeowners.
But in St. Paul, those public officials largely aren't calling their employees back to the office. Melo joined All Things Considered Tuesday to talk about this irony, what’s at stake and how some employers are working to bring people back downtown.
