Milder Thursday, snow chance Friday; cold, windy Saturday
40 to 50 mph gusts Thursday in southwestern Minnesota
Look for a milder couple of days as temperatures warm to near freezing in southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and closer to 40 Friday. Temperatures will be cooler, mainly in the 20s in northern Minnesota and we’ll still have a breeze Thursday at 10-20 mph, closer to 20-35 mph in southwest Minnesota.
Winds pick up again Friday night as snow and cold return.
Warmer and more wind
It was a frigid start to the day early Thursday before sunrise. Several locations were below zero with everybody else in the single digits.
Temperatures will recover quickly Thursday to near freezing in southern Minnesota.

It’ll be windy again Thursday, especially in southwestern Minnesota where we do have a wind advisory through 4 p.m. for potential gusts of 40 to 50 mph.
Friday will be even warmer in southeastern Minnesota but colder air will already be pushing into northwestern Minnesota as our next weather system switches the winds around.
Snow chances and even more wind
We have a few more snow chances in the next several days. First up is Friday afternoon into Friday night. We could even have a few rain sprinkles in southeastern Minnesota.
Northeastern Minnesota could even see some patchy light ice with temperatures below freezing at the surface.
This Friday-Friday night system will mainly bring a few fresh inches of snow to northern Minnesota. Southern Minnesota will see just a coating.
Winds will pick back up Friday night into Saturday morning, creating blowing snow and bitter wind chills. It’ll be colder Saturday with highs mainly in the single digits and teens.
Another clipper system will again, brush northern Minnesota with snow showers late Sunday.
