Cold start but warmer afternoon Thursday; more snow late Friday
A temperature roller coaster with more snow for some late Friday
It’s a cold start with single digits and teens early Thursday morning and subzero wind chills but we’ll rebound quickly. Highs will be in the 30s south and 20s north by afternoon. It’ll be breezy still but from the southeast at 10-20 mph. More snow is on the way for mainly northern and central Minnesota late Friday.
Warming up Thursday and Friday
After a frigid start this Thursday morning, temperatures rebound by afternoon to near freezing in southern Minnesota. It’ll continue to be breezy but from the southeast Thursday at 10-20 mph.
It’ll be even warmer across southern Minnesota with highs in the low 40s in the southeast but with a substantial temperature gradient. Northwest Minnesota will be in the teens and low 20s only.
The next round of snow
The next round of snow is heading toward Minnesota Friday. Snow showers will develop in northwest Minnesota first midday Friday and spread east and southeast. In central and southeast Minnesota we may see a few sprinkles first. The bulk of the snow will be confined to central and northern Minnesota this time.
Portions of northern Minnesota will see a few inches of snow with just a coating farther south.
Temperatures dip again Saturday into the teens and single digits with gusty winds creating subzero wind chills and blowing the fresh snow around.
