Turning colder beginning on Sunday; snow likely Tuesday
Saturday has been lovely with much of central and southern Minnesota, from Brainerd to Iowa, warming into the low 50s. That’s about 15 degrees warmer than average for late November. Cooler 40s were reported in most of the rest of the state while the northwest corner stayed in the 30s.
Scattered light rain has been breaking out across northern Minnesota, including the Iron Range.
The weather is about to turn colder. Snow is likely for parts of the state on Tuesday. Here’s a summary weather outlook for the Twin Cities area:

Chillier for Sunday
A weak cold front crossing Minnesota this Saturday afternoon will pass east of Minnesota overnight. Sunday will be much cooler with about normal high temperatures in the mid 20s in the northwest corner around Hallock in Kittson County and 30s for most of the state. The Twin Cities should have a high around 37 with a fairly light north-northwest breeze.
Good road conditions for travel
The cold front might also drop just a few light flurries Saturday night. But road conditions across Minnesota and western Wisconsin will remain good for those returning from Thanksgiving visits.
Briefly milder Monday
Monday will be a bit milder. Highs should range from the low 30s in the Arrowhead to low and mid 40s in the southwest. The Twin Cities could have a high around 40. And there is a chance of light snow across northern Minnesota.
Snow likely Tuesday
Forecast models continue their confidence in a band of snow crossing Minnesota on Tuesday. The axis of heaviest snow seems most likely to be somewhere near the Twin Cities area but could shift in future forecasts. That snow will bring out the snow shovels and plows. Depending on the exact track, southeastern Minnesota might get rain or a rain/snow mix.
Northwestern Minnesota is likely to see little or no snow from this event.
Colder later in the week
Colder temperatures more typical of late November and early December are likely from Wednesday through next weekend. Wednesday looks to be a midweek chilly day.
After slightly milder temperatures for Thursday and Friday, temperatures should turn colder again beginning on Saturday.
