Lovely Thursday and warmer Friday; areas of rain likely early next week
Wednesday’s gusty winds are gone. Look for a delightful Thursday with low dew points and seasonable temperatures. High temperatures should be in the upper 60s in northeastern Minnesota and the 70s elsewhere in the state.
The Twin Cities should warm to about 76 degrees under mostly sunny skies. A few light showers might break out in northeastern Minnesota in the afternoon and track southeastward toward northwestern Wisconsin.
Friday will be sunny and warmer. The Twin Cities should reach the low 80s in the afternoon with continued low humidity.
Weak cold front Saturday
The arrival of a weak cold front on Saturday will bring cooler temperatures to about the northwestern half of Minnesota. Twin Cities temperatures are likely to warm to about 80 before the front spreads its cooler air across the metro area. The front should be mainly dry but a few isolated light showers are possible.

Cooler weather will spread over all of Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin by Sunday.
The Twin Cities should then enjoy several days of afternoon highs in the low to mid 70s through about next Wednesday before warming again heading toward the following weekend.
Prospects for rain
As much as dry September days are the delightful epitome of autumn, we sure could use significant rain to combat the ongoing drought.
Many lawns have greened up, but the soil moisture remains depleted. Lakes, streams and rivers have a long way to go to recover water volume.
What might help a little is the chance of measurable rain Monday and Tuesday. Although rain will not be heavy, amounts up to a one-quarter or one-third of an inch might be in the cards.
