A gorgeous Saturday; rain and thunder at times on Sunday

Update on 90 degree highs

Our Juneteenth 2021 weather will be gorgeous.

Most areas will have a sun-splashed day. Highs are expected to reach the 80s in central and southern Minnesota plus much of western Wisconsin. The northern third of Minnesota will see mainly 70s, but a few spots up along the North Shore of Lake Superior could see highs in the 60s. Dew points will be in the comfortable 40s and lower 50s.

Sunday temps and dew points

Sunday highs will be mainly in the 60s to the north, with 70s south:

Sunday rain and thunder chances

Scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm could move into parts of far western Minnesota after sunset this Saturday. Rain chances spread eastward overnight Saturday night.

Periods of rain are likely in Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Sunday, with some embedded t-storms at times. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale (NAM) forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Saturday evening through Sunday evening:

NOAA’s High Resolution Rapid-Refresh (HRRR) model shows a similar rain pattern, with slightly different timing:

A few strong or severe thunderstorms are possible on Sunday. The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk of severe weather in portions of southern Minnesota, the Twin Cities metro area, and southwestern and west-central Wisconsin Sunday and Sunday night.

The marginal risk area is shaded dark green on the NWS graphic below:

Marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. The severe weather outlook is updated several times each day by the Storm Prediction Center.
