Monday’s major winter storm skirted just south of Minnesota. The system dumped heavy snow from near Omaha through Iowa to Milwaukee and Chicago. Several locations picked up more than a foot of snow.

Weekend snow chances

The storm track remains active across the Midwest next weekend. Early indications are the storm track favors placing the heaviest snow bands across Iowa and northern Illinois once again.

This storm track would likely bring some snow to Minnesota. But snowfall totals would be lighter than what fell with last weekend’s system.

If the storm track shifts further north, snowfall forecasts for Minnesota will increase.

Stay tuned for possible forecast changes as we head toward the weekend.
