Steady weather continues for the next week

Temperatures remain above average

The recent mild and uneventful pattern Minnesota has been stuck under stays in place through at least late next week.

Thursday’s forecast

The wide band of clouds that moved across Minnesota Wednesday continued south of the state by Thursday morning, with most of the state waking up to clear skies Thursday.

However, the clouds lingered enough into the evening and overnight hours, providing insulation, and combined with a southwest wind flow, that it kept the state very mild.

Most of Minnesota started in the 20s Thursday morning, with only a few spots dropping into the teens, especially in the Arrowhead.

Under plentiful sunshine, the state warms into the 30s north and 40s south, putting Minnesota 5 to 15 degrees above average for early December.

Staying dry

The weather pattern across the country currently has a trough of lower pressure east of the state, keeping the active weather toward the east coast and benign weather over Minnesota.

No significant rain or snow is expected through at least next week. However, there could be isolated flurries at times, especially near Lake Superior when the winds come off the lake.

The precipitation forecast through next Thursday shows just how dry it is expected to be:

This means mostly sunny skies most days, with occasional periods of extra clouds as minor disturbances pass through.

Mild weather continues

The same steady pattern that keeps the state predominantly dry also keeps us above average for at least the next week. Highs stay at least in the upper 20s, and mostly in the 30s for northern Minnesota and in the 30s and 40s south.
