Summer weather lingers into late September this year: 70s and 80s ahead
Temperatures 10 to 15 degrees warmer than average most of next week.

Our weather pattern shifts into a warmer mode for at least the next week across Minnesota. The weather maps next week look more like August than late September.
The jet stream lifts north into Canada most of next week. That opens the door for a warmer air mass to drift north.
Most of Minnesota will enjoy highs in the 70s for most of next week. But western and southern Minnesota including the Twin Cities should reach or exceed the 80-degree mark next Tuesday.

Next Friday also looks warm, with highs in the summerlike 80s once again across the western half of Minnesota. And a hot late-season air mass with highs around 90 across the Dakotas may feed even warmer weather into Minnesota by next Saturday.
Mild start to October?
The upper air patterns suggest warmer than average temperatures could linger into early October this year. NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center 8 to 14-day outlook captures the trend. It’s a sea of red across the Upper Midwest into early October.
We know the other (wintry) shoe will drop eventually in the next two months. I enjoy winter in Minnesota. Many resorts and other winter-sensitive businesses in Minnesota depend on our rigorous winter climate.
But given our trifecta of April blizzards the past 3 years, I am more than happy to milk the last of this summerlike warmth as long as it lasts into October this year.
One thing we know for sure in Minnesota? Winter is coming. Eventually.
