Scattered storms Tuesday; spectacular starting Wednesday

A few thunderstorms roam Minnesota Tuesday.

The bulk of the thundershowers will not be severe. But one or two may approach severe limits with heavy downpours, hail and gusty winds. The highest (slight) risk of storms is north of the Interstate 94 corridor. Storms in and near the Twin Cities favor the midday hours.

Sticky air mass

Dew points across southern Minnesota approach the 70-degree mark for a few hours this afternoon. You’ll feel the mugginess before the front finally blows through late Tuesday night.

Our inbound air mass still looks blissfully pleasant for the opening two days of the Minnesota State Fair. Highs in the 70s with low humidity rule through Friday. The weekend looks warmer, and more humid again.
