Teacher allegedly assaulted by students at St. Paul school

A St. Paul teacher was injured Wednesday when two students allegedly punched him and threw him to the ground at Como Park High School.

Neither police nor school district officials would identify the teacher or students, but St. Paul police spokesman Steve Linders says the students are not in custody.

"Our officer interviewed and took statements from the victim and both suspects at the scene. The suspects were released and probably will be charged out of custody at a later date," he said.

In a statement, St. Paul Public Schools Superintendent Valeria Silva said violent behavior is completely unacceptable.

Last week, Central High teacher John Ekblad sued the district after a student assaulted him in December.

The 16-year-old was sentenced to house arrest after pleading guilty.
