Authorities say they've seized more than 30 pounds of opium powder found in a passenger's luggage at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a news release that officers found the substance in the bag of a 35-year-old woman arriving from Laos via Tokyo on Friday. The agency said Customs and Border Protection officers opened a packet listed as green tea mix and found a powder that tested positive for the presence of opium.
According to the agency, 33.5 pounds of opium was seized. The agency said the passenger was arrested and turned over to local authorities for prosecution.
